We will be meeting at the USFS Office parking lot in Fort Collins on the day of each weed pull to arrange carpooling from there to the weed pull location. We will leave the USFS promptly at 7:30 AM.

For weed pulls on the North Fork Trail, we will likely also stop at the Kmart in Loveland to pick up volunteers who also want to carpool.

Volunteers can also drive themselves to the trailhead if they prefer that option.

Bring lots of water, a pack lunch, sun screen, snacks, work gloves, raingear, hiking boots, and a broad-brimmed hat and a day pack.

Wear a long-sleeved shirt and long pants.

There will be a staffed weed information pavilion at this weed pull.  Tell us in the comment section if you wish to volunteer for the pavilion.

Come join the PWV Board Chair, Margaret Shaklee, on the first Friday of every month at the USFS in Fort Collins in the Visitors Information Center.

- Find out what's going on in PWV.

- Learn how you can get involved.

- Tell her what you think PWV should consider for the future.

Sometimes there will be specific topics; sometimes it will be a general discussion.

This year our main project will be the Young Gulch Trail project.  PWV plans six public work days on the Young Gulch Trail starting in July.  The work on the public days will primarily be building new trail tread.  This will require building a number of rock walls which are necessary to hold the trail in place since there was so much damage to the land where the trail had been.

The general public is invited to work alongside PWV members to perform the physical labor necessary to restore the trails.  Anyone of good health and at least 18 years old, or 15 and older if accompanied by a parent, can take part.

The schedule for public work days are listed below:

  • July 15 & 16 on Young Gulch Trail
  • July 22 & 23 on Young Gulch Trail
  • August 5 & 6 on Young Gulch Trail

For more details, please click here.

So if you would like to come out and see how a trail is built, please register for any of the six Trail Restoration days.
